Hyde Park is spot on

During a wander in Hyde Park we met a spotty canine (our first dalmatian encounter for this trip) who reminded us of home.

The friendly pooch's name was Forrest, because, as his owner Joe said: `Dalmatians are meant to run aren’t they?  Like Forrest Gump.’’

Joe rescued Forrest from an animal shelter two years ago and while the outgoing pooch has a few more spots than our beloved Dommie, their friendly nature and quirky mannerisms are just the same.

Forrest ran past some people feeding swans on the lake, and when he saw that they had dropped a huge chunk of bread he lunged, cheekily snatched it then bolted to a quiet spot on the grass to scoff it down before his embarrassed owner could come and take it away.

It was hilarious to watch, especially as it was exactly what we would have expected from our own dalmatian in the same circumstances.

Meeting Forrest was one of many things to like about Hyde Park -- the swans were also entertaining and the sunset was pretty good too.
