Man vs Food

3.5 pounds of corn chips. 1.25 pounds of cheese. 1 pound of chilli beef. Half a pound of salsa. A quarter of a pound each of sour cream, jalapenos and olives.

That's a whopping 7 pounds (almost 3.2 kilos) of Colossal Nachos. Which is bigger than many newborn babies (well bigger than Kat's new, yet-to-be named 6lb 8oz (3.1kg) baby -- congrats Kat and Dave!)

We considered the giant meal, served at our Vegas hotel's Burger Joint sports bar, to be in the league of Man vs Food so we were keen to hand over $20 and take the challenge.

For those of you not familiar with Man vs Food, it is a pay TV series in which presenter Adam Richman visits restaurants across the USA and takes on ridiculous food challenges which most of us could never imagine finishing.  But amazingly, he does, where many others try and fail.

The giant nachos were served to our table by the chef -- he was decked out in a striped black and white referee outfit and blew his umpire whistle loudly as he approached us, to alert other diners in the restaurant that we were taking on such a colossal meal.

To top it off the bar was offering 2 x 48oz jugs of Miller Lite beer (that's 3 litres all up) for just $12 so of course that was perfect for washing down our nachos. And just incase you were thinking we'd turned soft and started drinking light beer we hadn't -- in the USA `lite'' means low carb, not low alcohol content).

Some grannies at a nearby table were so impressed with our feast that they dropped by to say hello a couple of times during our meal and see how we were going.

We managed to polish off just over half of the nachos between us and when the water came to clear the table he admitted he was impressed -- usually the nachos are tackled by groups of 4-6 people who still struggle to finish.
